Parish Teaching Course Gender & Ministry
One of the prime aims of The John Bishop Charitable Trust is to promote the use of the John Bishop theological library housed at the Abbey of Notre-Dame du Bec-Hellouin, Normandy.
It is anticipated that a bursary may cover the following:
It is expected that the recipients of a bursary will have a specific project of study planned for their time at the John Bishop library.
We ask recipients to arrange their own transport and request for accommodation at Bec Abbey. After the period of study the trustees would be grateful to receive a short report of the work fulfilled.
Applications may be considered from those who wish to organise a reading week for a group of students.
The trustees will consider applications for a bursary and for joining a Reading Week at their twice-yearly meetings, which are usually held in the autumn and spring. It is therefore advisable to make an application at least six months before a proposed visit to Bec Abbey.
Please note that the Trustees may only consider applications from those who do not support the ordination of women to the diaconate, presbyterate or the episcopate in the Church of England.
